About the workshop:
Are you a lover of steamy little pictures but are maybe afraid to make eye contact? Or a naughty notebook scribbler who doesn’t want to show anyone what they’re working on? Or perhaps you’re just a little bit curious? This sex-positive, neurodivergent-friendly comics class centering queer and trans erotic art is stuffed with flirty prompts to get your creative juices flowing. It’s calling your name.
This four-week long class will meet for two hours each week. Taught by Joaquin Golez, this class also includes a session run by (extremely buff) guest artist Ren Strapp.
No one in this workshop will be forced to share their work, so you’re welcome to come draw and participate in whatever way feels safe, fun, and comfy to you. We want this to be a playful, tender, reflective space. Students are also invited to join Crucial’s Discord to share their work and ideas.
Date:
This is a four-week online workshop on Wednesdays in June 2025 (June 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th) from 5-7pm PST, (8pm-10pm EST). Happy Pride month! The class is capped at 25 participants. Everyone who signs up will receive a Zoom link via email and then a recording of the class afterwards.
What you need:
• Drawing supplies. You can draw on paper or digitally, whatever you prefer. You’re welcome to use whatever materials you have on hand, whether it’s colored pencils, watercolors, or ink pens.
About the teacher:
Joaquin Golez is an illustration artist, tattooist in training, and a mixed-race unsortable gender goblin with a gentle heart and a neurospicy brain. He draws evocative and often visually complex images motivated by queerness, eroticism, fantasy, gender mutations, graphic narrative and decorative delights. He teaches illustration at Portland State University.
Age restriction
The comics in this workshop contain nudity and sexuality. Lots of butts. This class is for people ages 18+.

To make them affordable, all of our classes and workshops are offered at a sliding scale cost.
Supporter - This payment level pitches in a little extra toward the teacher’s income and helps pay artists to create new comics at Crucial. Thanks for your support!
Standard - This is the basic rate for the class, which covers our costs.
Discount - We want people of all income levels in our classes, so choose this rate if you paying the standard rate is a stretch for you.
We set aside three spots in each class to be offered for free to people who would find it a hardship to pay the discount rate for any reason. These free spots are first-come, first-serve. If you would like to take a class for free, please send us a short email about yourself, what class you would like to take, and why. If a free spot is still available, we’ll send you a discount code to register for free! Email: editors@crucialcomix.com
